My name is Alexia and I started Access and Allies as a way to compile all of this information I've gathered through my experience as a chronically ill, disabled person. This page is founded upon two ideals:
Access: If it's inaccessible, it's unacceptable.
Allies: "What hurts the victim most is not the cruelty of the oppressor but the silence of the bystander." -Elie Wiesel
The people who have the most power in the fight for disabled rights are our able-bodied allies. Until the masses change the standard for what is acceptable for all of us, some of us will continue to be excluded.
I believe that accessibility is a human right worth fighting for. More than that, it's a pillar of success and development: the community that has the resources to destroy oppressive barriers and build a more inclusive environment for everyone is far more successful in my eyes than the community that keeps its resources allocated to the select few.
